Dear Colleagues and Friends:
The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract Foundation was founded in 2000 to support the mission, goals and objectives of the SSAT. Since its inception, SSAT has maintained research and education as its cornerstones for progress and advancement within our specialty. The remarkable achievements of the past decades within surgery in general and our specialty in particular are the direct result of years of study and effort, ultimately creating extraordinary benefits for patient care.
The Foundation serves as the fundraising and marketing arm of the SSAT. Since its inception the Foundation has received financial support from the Society and its members that vastly exceeded all expectations. That continuing commitment has advanced our efforts to build the base for extraordinary research and education opportunities that will go on in perpetuity. Increasingly, the Foundation is seeking and receiving financial support from Industry, private foundations, and government sources to further advance our mission. As we move forward, the Foundation will be intensifying these efforts and building strong partnerships with all segments of the specialty.
For those who have and continue to support the Foundation, we are most grateful and we hope that you will continue your generosity. To those new to the SSATF, we ask you to consider making a financial commitment to help us to create tomorrow's advances in patient care.
Sincerely,
Keith D. Lillemoe, M.D.
