The Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery (JOGS) is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal that updates the surgeon on the latest developments in gastrointestinal surgery. The journal includes original articles on surgery of the digestive tract; gastrointestinal images; "How I Do It" articles, subject reviews, book reports, editorial columns, the SSAT Presidential Address, articles by guest orators and lecturers, symposia, letters, results of conferences and more. JOGS is the official publication of the SSAT, functioning as an outstanding forum for continuing education in surgery and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
SSAT and Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery (JOGS) Associate Editor Search
The Board of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) has appointed an Ad Hoc Editorial Search Committee to conduct a broadly based academic search for an Associate Editor, with the potential to transition to the position of Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery (JOGS) upon mutual agreement of both parties. The Editorial Search Committee invites nominations, including self-nominations, for this prestigious position. All nominations must indicate that the proposal is acceptable to the nominee. Nominations are due December 1, 2014.

JOGS Best Article Award
In 2007, Springer, the publisher of the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, began providing annual award monies for the best article(s) published in JOGS during each print Volume year.
